3D - Video
These videoclips were shot with two digital DV camcorders
SONY (DCR-PC-8). To control the camcorders a special cable connected
remote is used, connected to the LANC jacks of the camcorders. Some
of the clips were shot using the original SONY InfraRed remote - these
clips are unfortunately not 100% synced.
To view these videoclips you need the propper video and audiocodecs
(usually DivX 5.x and MP3), and a player which is able to play stereoscopic
video material. I recomand Peter Wimmer's Stereoscopic
Player , which is able to display the stereoscopic videos in various
formats (e.g. anglyph, side-by-side, dual screen output) using your
favourite 3D glasses.
The videosclips are arranged according to topics, in
order to keep on the one hand the overview, and on the other hand fast
preview sequences display. The preview sequences are reduced animations
of the original videoclips, whereby only each fifteenth picture is used.
Nevertheless even these small animations are viewable in stereoscopic
mode using the parallel view method!
The videos are usually offered in 3 different version
for download. These differ in resolution, video and audio quality from
each other:
the smallest version
is 512*192 pixels (4:3) - video is compressed using DivX 5.x at about
768 kbit
audio is coded as MP3 (48kbit / 16000 Hz).
the middle version is 1024*384 pixels (4:3). video is compressed using
DivX 5.x at about 1536 kbit
audio is coded as MP3 (64kbit / 22050 Hz)
the largest version is 1440*576 pixels (in original PAL (DV) aspect
ratio 5:4 (= 720:576)) - video is compressed using DivX 5.x
at about 6144 kbit - audio is coded as MP3 (128kbit / 48000 Hz).
Since the videos use aboute 2.6 GB space the clips are
hosted on a own webserver at my home. The internet connection for this
has been increased from 128 kbit/sec to 512 kbit/sec, in order to make
faster downloads possible (enjoy this fast downloads via DSL).

Due to a codecerror almost all 1440 videoclips had problems
while playing them back (video playback stopped partially for several
seconds althoug audio played correct) - therefore all 1440 verions were
replaced with new ones which do not show this problem. If you encount
such problems with the clips already downloaded (before November 25),
please download these clips again. (this problem has nothing to do with
slow playback on slow PCs)
Instead of downloading all videoclips ask for a DVD
copy of all clips - I can send you a DVD including all clips (only for
germay an all European Union countries)
